Summer Library Program

An exciting summer full of programs, events, and reading awaits you at the library and in the community. Visit our calendar for a full listing or pick up a print copy at the library.

2016 Sponsors

No summer would be complete without our sponsors. Sponsors donate money, goods, or services or passes to the library to support the Summer Library and Reading Programs. We are truly grateful and hope that you will acknowledge their support when you patronize their business or see their members around the area.

Summer Reading Programs

June 6 to August 5

We are pleased to offer summer reading programs for a variety of readers:

Children
• Read to Me – for babies, toddlers, and children who are not reading on their own yet
• Readers – for children who can read on their own (primarily ages 6-11)
Both groups can be read to or listen to audiobooks. Children receive a free book for each 90 minute reading level they complete. Gently used children’s books are still needed for this purpose, especially board books and beginning readers.

Adults

Full rules and details for each program are available at the library along with reading records.

Teen Battle of the Books

Read and compete! Battle of the Books (BOB) is a summer book club competition open to youth ages 12-18 years old. Books and official rules available at the library. The competition will take place in Watertown on Wednesday, July 27 from 2-3 pm. Please contact Miss Sarah at 485-3535 or scournoyer@mwfls.org for more information.

Family Fun Night

This collaborative event for the whole family takes place on Tuesday, July 5 at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center on Highway 28 between Horicon and Mayville. Public libraries in Dodge and Washington counties have partnered with the WI Department of Natural Resources to bring you this annual event.

This year’s activities will include guided marsh tours, dip netting, crafts for kids, an edible craft, archery, astronomers, and more. Pick up a complimentary ticket at the library prior to this event to visit the Explorium for free on this evening. Bring a picnic. Hot dogs, chips, baked goods, and water will be available for purchase from the Friends of the Horicon Marsh. Come rain or shine.
